I’m sorry my friends, but as an animal right activist, I can not help but feel the urgency to share some of the dark side of true animal abuse in retort to the responses (excuses) I’ve received from the council of Victoria’s City Hall. Potbelly pigs are far more than what they consider “Agriculture Animals” and for that matter, ALL ANIMALS. Our leaders must turn and use their power in order to create a system that respects animals, especially towards the ones our ancestors once dubbed to be considered nothing more than an “agriculture animal” or “beast of burden”.
Months ago City Hall replied to me with this comment in regards to the well being of pigs….
“Small urban yards are not large enough for farm animals, who require access to larger spaces outdoors in order to maintain their health and well-being.”
After laughing hysterically I have been left with nothing more than absolute confusion as currently 95% of our Canadian produced pork come from factory farming such as in this image above which force “farm pigs” into tiny gestation crates so small that they are incapable of moving more than a few inches, and are never given the opportunity to share love with their own kind or even the gratitude of spending time with their own children as families. These mother pigs are forcefully impregnated over and over again until they are considered nothing more than a product on our grocery store shelves, and sent to the slaughter house to be killed around 1/5th before their natural life span would normally reach. The farm pigs he mentions are not only severely mutilated, raised in a horrific fashion, often beaten by careless workers, and suffer lives that we would compare as hell on Earth if any single one of us were confined to this life.
My question in reply to this truly problematic issue is this…….”If you are all so bent on the well being of pigs, along with the health of our citizens, then why do you allow the countless documented terrors and abuse of factory farming to continue, yet are still so stubborn on fighting my request to allow these same animals to receive the love that they deserve from humanity? I keep reading this ancient bylaw, and it suggests that pigs are considered “beasts of burden” which sounds to me as if they are to be considered a problematic animal, which we have already proven to be the absolute opposite, until Animal Control came along, and suggested this historical statement, as if we the people aren’t educated enough to know otherwise. Beasts of burden my ass. I believe these are simply horrible excuses to avoid having to actually deal with our situation. We kill the most docile animals around, pigs, rabbits, ducks, fish, chickens, pigs, while far more aggressive animals are told to be accepted and considered as “government approved” pets. Let’s just say we have some evolving to do with these bylaws, and if city hall thinks they have better things to deal with, then obviously they have completely subtracted the hearts of the billions of animals that we have slaughtered over the years from the care of our nations, and I’m here to get it back!”
The same second that our government chooses to eradicate factory farming is the same second that I will submit to our leaders. So here’s my offer city hall……if you stand with me in order to abolish this mistreatment of pigs, and all other factory farmed animals then I will pick up and move, and we will be out of your hair. Until then, then I’m sorry to say, but your suggestions of the well being of these animals currently falls on deaf ears, as we are here to fight in order to gain far more respect for the lives of these so called “beasts of burden” otherwise known as “agriculture animals” or if you please………my pets, my children, and my family! Simply put, I would give my life up in order to end the horrific atrocities of factory farms along with the greater good of all life on the planet in doing so.
The city also suggested this bit of information as well….
“Farm animals may cause unsanitary conditions on the property, which may create a higher risk for disease to the animal and its owners.”
My reply to this statement is…..
“When’s the last time you’ve encountered this issue of pet potbellied pigs causing disease in humans? Have you any documented proof of this? Meanwhile the World Health Organization has just announced that processed pig meat causes cancer, as well as almost all of the Doctors and scientists in our country enlightening us that consuming pork create a higher risk of heart disease which even our own government websites claims to end the lives of more than 33,600 lives per year, as those numbers rise rapidly through the increase through the addiction of these meats which are being promoted all throughout our media, televisions, and far beyond for nothing more than a profit and thus bringing our citizens towards the true causes of pig related disease in humanity.”
These people are our families, our brothers, our sisters, children, parents, and friends, and beyond, and I care for every single one of them. These animals deserve more respect from us than being considered a “beast of burden” and oh yeah, don’t even get me started on the impact this all has on our eco destruction, along with the drastic rise of climate change………..so considering we have nothing but logistics backing us up, and you have a bylaw that was created in the 1900s, then hopefully you guys understand that we need to talk about this, and how we are going to change the outlook we have as a society in whole towards the way we look and respect these innocent lives!
My lawyer Anna Pippus from Animal Justice has held me back for some time now from raging out, but now I’m sorry to tell you City Hall, she’s finally unchained the true beast of burden, otherwise known as Mike “knock em” Downey! Due to the neglect we have received in regards to these matters, and the fact that that having been left in the dark this long, I’ve got some seriously built up tension, and a large amount of the people’s attention. I must thank you for this, because the longer you choose to brush me aside, the more fuel I have filling up my fighters gas tank. I’m no longer here to simply keep my pigs at this residence. I am now bent on creating order and change that expands FAR beyond our city. In essence, I must thank city hall, for neglecting us as true members of society, as this shall simply increase my voice to speak out for all of the mistreated animals in our society. Dogs, pigs, cats, cows, eagles, chickens…………..I’m speaking out for them all, and no matter if you allow us to win this fight or not we will 100% become victorious in this mission overall, even if it comes at our own expense……..even if it was to come at the cost of my very own life! There’s no stopping us! WE ARE HERE TO STAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
